Alex Mirutziu: ‘In my drawings I make use of what I call ‘bastard’ or ‘homeless lines’. These lines allow the form to surface from repeated indentations, drawing the motif by proximity not by faithful marking. Drawing with indeterminacy can only bypass ‘what is’ — as it projects to me right there and then, and favours the contingency of ‘what is’. When I draw I want to resolve the object first and foremost by avoiding drawing the object. I lay down a fast texture of lines like a plasmatic data, and return to a area of interest over and over again with more information, grasp, and understanding. The lines gradually build a climate from which the object emerge. I want to momentarily suspend meaning, to question closure even for a brief moment.‘
